The Square-1 is also a 3 dimensional twisty puzzle. It has 3 layers with are all split on the diagonal to enable a "slice" move.
The top and bottom layers have the same structure namely 4 quadrilateral kite shaped corners with a 60 degree internal angle. The top and bottom layers also have 4 edge pieces that are triangle in shape. The middle layer of the puzzle has two pieces only, which are devided on an angle.
The puzzle can be twisted in different ways, leading to a wide variety of possible shapes. The goal is to return the puzzle to its original cubic form and then solve it so that each face is a single color (if it's colored).
The standard solving procedure for the Square-1 involves the following steps:
- Get the puzzle into a Cube Shape
- Orient Corners (CO)
- Orient Edges (EO)
- Permute Corners (CP)
- Permute Edges (EP)
- Fix Parity
